Voices Beyond Borders short video segments produced by Blue Ridge PBS feature interviews with refugee women in our region. Look for these mini-productions immediately before and after episodes of Women, War and Peace. Segments will also be broadcast intermittently as part of the regular broadcast schedule.

Blacksburg—Wednesday, October 12 at 7 p.m.
Graduate Life Center Auditorium, Virginia Tech
Blue Ridge PBS and the Center for Student Engagement and Community Partnerships at Virginia Tech will co-sponsor a community forum, “Putting Women at the Center of Peace and Conflict Resolution Dialogue.” The evening will feature Voices Beyond Borders video segments produced by Blue Ridge PBS, a special screening of Women, War and Peace and a panel discussion. Participants will be Alma and Medina Speco, who were displaced from Bosnia and resettled in Roanoke; Faduma Guhad, a Virginia Tech student originally from Somalia; and Lakshmi Jayaram, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Virginia Tech. Michele James-Deramo, Director of Service-Learning at Virginia Tech, will moderate the forum. -
Bristol, TN/VA—Wednesday, October 26 at 7 p.m.
YWCA Bristol, 106 State Street, Bristol, TN
Blue Ridge PBS and the YWCA Bristol co-present an evening featuring Voices Beyond Borders video segments produced by Blue Ridge PBS, and a special screening of Women, War and Peace, followed by a panel discussion. The event will be held in connection with the annual Week Without Violence, a nationwide campaign where YWCAs across the county highlight practical, sustainable alternatives to violence, helping make homes, schools, workplaces and neighborhoods safer.
